Mirrors & Table Tops Glass and mirrors have been used for centuries to bring a greater level of sophistication to room decor. Traditionally, glass table tops have been used to protect fine leather desktops and tables, while mirrors were used to create an illusion of space. Today, now that the price of glass has become affordable to all, we see glass tables or table tops in virtually every home. Whether used as patio furniture or to protect a valuable antique, the use of glass has not been surpassed for durability or elegance. Customizing your tabletop has never been easier, given the depth of choices available now. Thickness, color, even the type of edge for your tabletop can be suited to your taste. Beveled or rounded edges are just a couple of the myriad of choices available. Mirrors are still used today to create space, whether making a small room look big, or a large room look larger, the effect is the same; mirrors make rooms look bigger. However, this is only one of the many uses for mirrors now. Mirrors are used to decorate bathrooms, fireplace mantles, bars, even exercise rooms. A new trend with mirrors is concealing large screen televisions which become apparent only when turned on. Of course we are all familiar with the security uses of one way mirrors. Whether functionality or decoration is desired, there is a reason glass has remained the first choice of architects and designers thoughout the world — and its use continues to grow.
