Replacement Windows & Doors

Replacement windows are one of, if not the greatest innovations in home improvement.  It is now possible to transform a 100 year old home, with drafty single pane windows, into a comfortable, quiet, energy saving home in a matter of days, possibly hours.

There are as many types of replacement windows available as there are cars on the road.  The majority are white vinyl with low e high performance glass.  This option gives you a well constructed window offering low maintainance, energy savings and noise reduction.  There are also "sash paks" available, which are the weatherstripping and the sash; the operable part of a window to match your existing wood window.  These sash paks can be clad or unclad on the exterior offering various levels of maintenance and are also available for "historic" renovations.

Both of these replacements fit within the existing wood window frame installed in your home.  If there is damage to the frame, such as rotten moulding or sill, they can be replaced with low maintenance pvc components or capped with aluminum to prevent further problems.  Often, depending on the windows, glass alone can be changed to achieve a desired result.  Adding high performance glass to the south and west exposures of a home can save energy dollars.

One of our favorite products is the vinyl "french door."  Having gained popularity in Europe, this door offers a  European multi-point lockset, low maintenance, and matches the windows in color and style of most new houses.  This door seals better than wood doors and never requires the painting or shaving that wood doors need.  Adjustable hinges allow these doors to compensate for natural house settling with just a screwdriver.
